December 2015.

Our first blog post.  The beginning of what will no doubt be irregular updates from life here on our little glamping site in the sticks in Wales.

We are now well into our first winter glamping season and we have had a steady trickle of bookings and lots of fantastic comments in the visitor book.  Everyone has been really surprised by how warm the dens and the pig shed are and we are pleased that all Lyndon’s hard work and planning has worked out.  One of our main priorities when we started planning One Cat Farm, was to have warm guests all year round.  We are also pleased to see that the local wildlife approves.  Celyn and Helyg dens have both had blue tits move in to the little spaces outside, above the front doors.  Guests who are quiet can lie in bed and watch them come and go in the morning.  And the noisy ones will be greeted by a little pile of droppings directly outside their door.   In November we had almost a month of beautiful sunsets to enjoy.

At the beginning of December we welcomed our first group booking to One Cat Farm. They had the whole place to themselves.  A lovely bunch of friends and their various kids and small dogs, arrived on the Friday evening. At the same time the worst weather we have had this year also came to stay.   A constant strong howling wind and sideways torrential rain battered the poor people for most of their 2 night stay.  It didn’t seem to ruin their fun however, and a week later they got in touch asking if they can book again for next December! We are hoping they will get better weather next year.

During the times when we have had no guests staying we have been busy making improvements for next season. Amongst other things, Lyndon has fitted a second WC.  We are also hoping to install a pantry in the pig shed; a little shop selling essentials and a few little luxuries for guests to treat themselves.  Hammocks and log stores are also planned for 2016.

We are now closed until the 4th January.  We promised the girls a proper break and family Christmas this year.  This is because the last 2 years we have been working our socks off trying to get everything off the ground and family lfe took a bit of a back seat.  We are also going to be heading back to the bright lights of London to catch up with friends and celebrate New Year city style.

After the break we are excited to welcome our first 2016 guests who arrive on the 4th January.  On holiday all the way from Canada!

Happy New Year to you all!
